CFFCU 2022 'CLASSROOM MAKEOVER' WINNERS
Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union (Cy-Fair FCU) announced the recipients of its Classroom Makeover competition, awarding $2,200 to several Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) teachers. The competition is designed to honor educators who show a commitment to their students, and would benefit from a classroom update to enhance the learning environment and experience. This year, three Cy-Fair ISD teachers received $500 to update their respective elementary, middle or high school classrooms in order to maximize learning and promote student participation. The credit union also awarded $150 to three runner-up recipients.
This year Cy-Fair FCU announced the awards before an audience of the recipients’ peers at the CFISD’s Rigor, Relevance, Relationships Teacher Development Conference. Each recipient received a special presentation before the keynote address of the conference.
The recipients of Cy-Fair FCU’s 2022 Classroom Makeover include the following:
$500 Recipients:
Lisa Hayes – Lamkin Elementary School
Melinda Abel – Arnold Middle School
Paula Beltran – Cypress Ridge High School
$150 Runner-Up Recipients:
Staci Hatcher – Bane Elementary School
Shalyn Nicholson – Truitt Middle School
Kelsey Spurgin – Cypress Ridge High School
For this year, if any $500 recipient was also a Cy-Fair FCU member we awarded an additional $100 as a “Thank You” for being a member of the credit union.
The competition began in 2007. Since then, Cy-Fair FCU has now awarded close to $25,000 to local teachers for classroom makeovers. Recipients are selected by a committee of community volunteers who review and discuss every entry. Names and schools, as well as whether they are a member of the credit union, are removed from all entries so biases do not influence their decisions. Our online application for consideration into the contest will reopen in the Spring of 2023.
